OUR STORY

Put our lifelong passion for fitness and personal training to work for you.

Since graduating from Hofstra University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science in 2015, Robert Ackley knew he wanted to turn his passion for high-performance training into a full-time professional career. Less than a year later, he founded Prevention & Performance as a home-based personal training service, working one on one with a number of awesome clients in the Long Island area.

Two years later, Prevention & Performance found a permanent location and went from a home business to a professional body rehabilitation and group exercise gym.

Today, Prevention & Performance is a full-fledged fitness center with group fitness classes, 1-on-1 personal training sessions, and expert body rehabilitation work.

We are proud to offer training to clients of all experience levels and consider it our mission to provide first-hand knowledge of exercise, form, nutrition, and performance techniques in order to help you achieve positive change.

COACH ROB

Currently, the founder and head trainer of Prevention & Performance, Rob applies his elite personal training ability with a passion for business and online coaching. He takes pride in helping people conquer their own recoveries and shatter their goals. Coach Rob is also a national level amateur bodybuilder pursuing a professional career.

Before starting Prevention & Performance, from a young age, Coach Rob was interested in personal training, but it wasn’t until a string of injuries in 2012 that he realized helping others achieve their fitness goals was his true calling. While rehabbing from both a broken neck and bulging disk in the lower back, Rob became more in tune with the way the human body recovered and developed a number of innovative recovery techniques he still uses to this day. He has then made it is TRUE passion to help heal others, and usher them towards their goals injury free.

After recovery, Rob enrolled at Hofstra University, and by 2016 he had a degree in Exercise Science and a successful home-based personal training business. Things quickly expanded, and ultimately evolved into what is now Prevention & Performance.

COACH IAN

My name is Ian Ringler, and I am a certified fitness coach and nutritionist. I received my certification from the ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association) after completing a rigorous training program at Bixhorn Technical Center. Since then, I have continued my education in the field, staying up to date on the latest research and techniques to help my clients achieve their fitness goals.

I have always been passionate about fitness and wellness, and I love working out myself. In fact, I have experience in a variety of disciplines, including weightlifting, endurance training, and even MMA (mixed martial arts). I understand how important it is to find a fitness routine that is both effective and enjoyable, and I strive to help my clients do just that.

I also have personal experience with injury and recovery. I tore my PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) during my MMA training, and I had to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation process to regain my strength and mobility. I know firsthand how frustrating and challenging it can be to recover from an injury, but I also know that with the right mindset and support, it is possible to come back stronger than ever.

Whether you are looking to lose weight, build muscle, or simply improve your overall health and wellbeing, I am here to help. I believe that everyone has the potential to reach their fitness goals, and I am committed to helping my clients unlock that potential. So if you're ready to take your fitness journey to the next level, let's get started!
